HTC Vive VR - Headset Installation

A short step by step guide on how to install the necessary software to make your Oculus VR headset work with Vrex.

This covers the VR headsets; HTC Vive, Pro, Focus, and Cosmos

Install Steam, the platform

  1. Navigate to https://store.steampowered.com/ and click on ‘Install Steam’, then ‘Install Steam’ again.
  2. Run the downloaded Steam setup installer
  3. Follow the installations steps and select ‘Run Steam’
  4. When it is done, create a new account or log in with your existing one.

Install Steam VR

  1. In the lower right corner of Windows, right click the Steam icon and select ‘Steam VR’.
  2. In the Steam VR installer, click next to start downloading
  3. To check your download status, open Steam.
  4. When it is done, try launching Steam VR and check that it detects the headset.

This is how you set the optimal SteamVR settings
1. From Steam VR, navigate to Settings -> General -> Render Resolution.
2. Select Custom and set the resolution Eye for Eye to 250%.

PS! This setting is only available when you have an active VR headset connected to your computer.
