VR Streaming Setup

Set up Quest VR streaming with Vrex

Stream Vrex to your Meta Quest headset using cloud rendering. No gaming PC required.

Overview

VR Streaming lets you run Vrex on powerful cloud servers and stream the experience to your Quest headset. This means:

  • High-quality graphics on standalone headsets
  • No PC required for end users
  • Models stay in the cloud, not on devices

Prerequisites

  • Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, or Quest Pro
  • Portal app installed on your Quest
  • Wi-Fi connection (5GHz recommended)
  • Vrex streaming plan (contact sales@vrex.no)

Step 1: Install Portal

Portal is the streaming client that connects your Quest to Vrex cloud servers.

  1. Put on your Quest headset
  2. Open the Meta Quest Store
  3. Search for Innoactive Portal
  4. Install the app

When you open Portal, you’ll see a website address and a numeric code. You’ll need these to register the device.

Step 2: Register Your Headset

Each headset needs to be registered once with your Vrex streaming portal.

  1. On a computer, go to your streaming portal URL (provided by your admin)
  2. Enter the code shown in Portal on your headset
  3. Give the device a name (e.g., “Quest-John” or “HQ-Headset-01”)
  4. Click Register

Your headset is now linked to your Vrex organization.

Step 3: Start a Streaming Session

Every time you use Vrex streaming:

  1. Turn on your Quest headset
  2. Launch the Portal app
  3. Select Vrex Pro from the available apps
  4. Wait for the streaming server to start

Note: If the server takes 2-6 minutes to start, it means no hot servers were available. Contact your admin about dedicated streaming plans to eliminate wait times.

  1. Once connected, you’ll see the Vrex login screen in VR
  2. Log in with your email/password or SSO

Verify It Works

You should see:

  • Vrex lobby with your projects
  • Smooth visuals (no heavy pixelation)
  • Controller tracking works correctly

If you have issues, see Connection Troubleshooting.

Network Requirements

Streaming requires good network connectivity:

  • Bandwidth: 50 Mbps minimum, 100+ Mbps recommended
  • Latency: Under 50ms to the streaming server
  • Wi-Fi: 5GHz band strongly recommended

For corporate networks, see Network Requirements.
