Projects & Models

Manage your 3D projects and model files in Vrex

Vrex organizes your work into projects. Each project contains models, sessions, issues, and team members.

Project Structure

Workspace
└── Project
    ├── Models (IFC, Revit, etc.)
    ├── Sessions (past and scheduled)
    ├── Issues (tracked problems)
    └── Team (access permissions)

Creating a Project

1. From the Vrex lobby, click New Project
2. Enter project details:
   • Name: Project identifier
   • Description: Brief summary
   • Thumbnail: Optional preview image
3. Click Create

You’re automatically the project owner with full permissions.

Uploading Models

Supported Formats

Upload Process

1. Open your project
2. Click Upload Model
3. Select your file (or drag and drop)
4. Wait for processing

Large models are optimized during upload for VR performance. This may take several minutes for complex files.

Model Versions

When you upload a new version of a model:

• The old version is archived (not deleted)
• Active sessions see the new version
• You can revert to previous versions if needed

Managing Models

Model Settings

Click the gear icon on a model to access:

• Rename: Change display name
• Replace: Upload a new version
• Download: Get original or processed file
• Delete: Remove from project

Model Information

Each model shows:

• File size (original and optimized)
• Upload date
• Processing status
• Element count (for BIM models)

Team Access

Permission Levels

Adding Team Members

1. Open project settings
2. Go to Team tab
3. Click Add Member
4. Enter email address
5. Select permission level
6. Click Invite

Invitees receive an email with a link to join.

External Guests

For people outside your organization:

1. Use Add Guest instead
2. They create a free Vrex account
3. Access is limited to this project only

Project Settings

General

• Name and description
• Thumbnail image
• Default view (starting position in model)

Notifications

Configure alerts for:

• New issues created
• Session started
• Model updated
• Team changes

Integration

Connect to external systems:

• BIM platforms (ACC, Aconex)
• Issue tracking (BIMcollab)
• Calendar (Outlook, Google)

Organizing Projects

Folders

Group related projects:

1. Click New Folder
2. Name the folder
3. Drag projects into it

Archive

Hide completed projects:

1. Open project settings
2. Click Archive
3. Project moves to Archive section

Archived projects remain accessible but don’t clutter your main view.

Search

Find projects quickly:

• Use the search bar in the lobby
• Filter by: Owner, Date, Status
• Sort by: Name, Recent, Created
